Time to crank this place up again. Hi, everybody. *Waves wildly like a madman*

Lots of things been happening. May write something about it in future posts. Life got sort of complicated for a while. Better now.

Anyway, I've got a job interview in 1,5 hours and getting this one would improve on an already upward curve. So good vibes, candles, whatever your thing is would be much appreciated.

Details to follow. See y'all later ;)

And a short personal update

I'm alive. And sometimes kicking. I'm trying to find something else to do because the current situation is rather... tiresome, yes, that's the word. Had one interview so far and almost certainly one more next week. Good vibes are very welcome.

Personal life is hectic and somewhat frustrating. One of my closest friends have had to go on long-term sick leave for stress and depression related to that. I'm trying to help her as best I can, but it's slow going and takes a good bit of energy. So I'm often feeling just conked out.

Anyway, sometimes I wish a day had 36 hours and not 24. And with that, it's bedtime here. G'night everybody out there.

Chicks!!! With Grammys!!

So, the Dixie Chicks won 5 Grammys yesterday: Defiant Dixie Chicks Are Big Winners at the Grammys. Well deserved, and the same goes for Red Hot Chili Peppers and Mary J. Blige who came away with 4 and 3 grammys respectively.

But I've got one thing to say especially with regard to the Dixie Chicks and the message that is absolutely a part of this: Take THAT, Right-Wingers, Clear Channel and all the fake-macho misogynists who bubbled up to slam the Chicks in that whole sorry episode. I see several signs that the tide is turning now and what you stand for is going down. And I'll enjoy watching it.

Youtube video and lyrics behind the cut:

Forgive, sounds good.
Forget, I'm not sure I could.
They say time heals everything,
But I'm still waiting

I'm through, with doubt,
There's nothing left for me to figure out,
I've paid a price, and i'll keep paying

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I know you said
Why can't you just get over it,
It turned my whole world around
and i kind of like it

I made by bed, and I sleep like a baby,
With no regrets and I don't mind saying,
It's a sad sad story
That a mother will teach her daughter
that she ought to hate a perfect stranger.
And how in the world
Can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Saying that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

Forgive, sounds good.
Forget, I'm not sure I could.
They say time heals everything,
But I'm still waiting

And so, the last day of the year arrives

It's been mostly strange and trying days for me lately, but still some good ones in there too. But I'm not really up to writing about that yet.

So this is just to wish everybody an enjoyable New Year's eve, however you're passing it, and a hopefully good year in 2007. I'm off home for a small party and some fireworks now.

Other than that I needed an excuse to post an amazing music video I got linked to a few weeks ago (on a thread over at Balloon-Juice, of all places). It's Dave Matthews Band and Warren Haynes of Gov't Mule playing Cortez the Killer live in Central Park. Just great, great music and video that I've been playing again and again.

Who would have thought that a Danish kicker would become the most scoring player ever in the NFL. 2435 points, and he's not done yet.

24 years, starting in 1982 with the New Orleans Saints and now with the Atlanta Falcons for the second time. What an incredible career.

Time to pop open the champagne bootle... :D

I am the girl kicked out of her home because I confided in my mother that I am a lesbian.

I am the prostitute working the streets because nobody will hire a transsexual woman.

I am the sister who holds her gay brother tight through the painful, tear-filled nights.

We are the parents who buried our daughter long before her time.

I am the man who died alone in the hospital because they would not let my partner of twenty-seven years into the room.

I am the foster child who wakes up with nightmares of being taken away from the two fathers who are the only loving family I have ever had. I wish they could adopt me.

I am one of the lucky ones, I guess. I survived the attack that left me in a coma for three weeks, and in another year I will probably be able to walk again.

I am not one of the lucky ones. I killed myself just weeks before graduating high school. It was simply too much to bear.

We are the couple who had the realtor hang up on us when she found out we wanted to rent a one-bedroom for two men.

I am the person who never knows which bathroom I should use if I want to avoid getting the management called on me.

I am the mother who is not allowed to even visit the children I bore, nursed, and raised. The court says I am an unfit mother because I now live with another woman.

I am the domestic-violence survivor who found the support system grow suddenly cold and distant when they found out my abusive partner is also a woman.

I am the domestic-violence survivor who has no support system to turn to because I am male.

I am the father who has never hugged his son because I grew up afraid to show affection to other men.

I am the home-economics teacher who always wanted to teach gym until someone told me that only lesbians do that.

I am the man who died when the paramedics stopped treating me as soon as they realized I was transsexual.

I am the person who feels guilty because I think I could be a much better person if I didn’t have to always deal with society hating me.

I am the man who stopped attending church, not because I don't believe, but because they closed their doors to my kind.

I am the person who has to hide what this world needs most, love.

Repost this if you believe homophobia is wrong.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I guess winter arrived promptly on schedule this year. Get up too early as usual this morning and what do I see out the window... Snow, that's what. And it kept coming down until midday. Yes it looks good, but the accompanying temperature drop is not really fun. So I could have done without this for at least a month more.

And shopping for stuff after work today, the air felt almost freezing. And the wind wasn't even blowing as hard as last night, so it wasn't just chill factor. Well, time to dig out the warmer clothes if that's how it's gonna be. Good thing work and and apartment are comfortable temp-wise.

Arguing with friends about money matters is Not A Good Idea with the kind of temperament I've got. Especially when the person you're arguing with is known for a "My Way" attitude in that area.

Right now I feel like smashing something , not that that'd help any. And so what's actually been a pretty good day is ruined. Sigh.

Time to go make some dinner, open a cold beer and hope that the New Orleans Saints can beat the Carolina Panthers into the ground. Don't much care who wins the Cincinatti Bengals - New England Patriots game later.

For anyone who wonders, yes there are some of us europeans who follow NFL football. In fact, there's a large enough following here in .dk that one of our national channels has been covering it for several years, showing at least 2 games a week :)

But I guess that was to much to comprehend for this young brainiac:

Young Republicans beat their own

Not that anyone deserves to get beaten, but I'm having a real hard time feeling any sympathy for this idiot.

For those interested in Internet privacy and censorship, wiretapping and CALEA

Especially slamlander. Susan Crawford's blog is one of my favorites as regards Internet matters, and I just noticed a couple of posts there, one very bad and one good. The bad one is about a proposed draft amendment to CALEA, which is the the law that makes it easy for US Law Enforcement Agencies to wiretap telephone communications by imposing design and format requirements on telecommunications providers. From what she writes, the draft amendment is spectacularly awful. To me it reads like a bad nightmare and spells major trouble if even half or a quarter of this goes through. What are these people thinking!!!

I just hope and pray that both houses of Congress go Democratic in November and that the moron authoritarian administration is stopped from doing more damage and thrown out as soon as possible. Not that the Democrats are flawless, it's just that they're much better than the current power-mad regime.

But thankfully it's not all bad news. In the next post, Susan reports that a Utah Internet Censorship law has been struck down in court as unconstitutional. As she says, It's nice to have some good news once in a while. But what were the Utah House members thinking. Sadly, I think I know and it's depressing.

Somehow, it's not good for my blood pressure to follow this stuff.

So, quite a lot has been happening

Work situation has taken a decidedly bad turn, and dealing with that has caused the reappearance of some of the stress reactions I thought gone. My first instinct was to take things in stride and try to tackle issues mostly head-on as they arose. Talk about errors of judgement.

Took only a few days to figure out that approach was untenable. So for the last week and a bit I've been firing off applications and contacting people I know about work. Along with quietly getting my work stuff in order and keeping a low profile.

Tomorrow there's a big meeting and Friday morning an update-and-coordinate conference call, but no matter what happens the decision's taken. And after friday I'm on vacation for two weeks, yaaay for good timing. Mentally it's really needed.

And as if that's not enough, the car got wonky on me and had to go into the shop. Something about brakes working on all four wheels being a good thing. Fortunately it didn't take a long time to fix, but the parts were bloody expensive. Oh well, comes with the territory.

At least the economy isn't as bad as I had feared after buying the new laptop and the other house and car stuff, according to both my nice bank lady and my own budgetary skills.

But still I don't like the feeling of being knocked for a loop.
